The project began in August, 2006, as a "service learning" project and evolved through spring, 2008, into a "Transformational Learning Opportunity" project funded by the University of North Florida. Interviewees include Saint Johns County and Hastings city government employees, librarians and library aides and volunteers, Library Advisory Board members, members of Friends of the Library, pastors, school teachers and staff and members of the local school board, long-time residents of Hastings, and interested citizens from nearby communities.
